ITG Conference in Banff, Canada
Jun 09, 2008 in Uncategorized
Hello, all,
As you’ll see from the calendar page, I just returned from a week in Banff with the ASU Trumpet Ensemble as part of the International Trumpet Guild’s annual conference. Congratulations are in order to my ASU colleagues; our ensemble performed as part of Prof. Hickman’s masterclass and we got great feedback from our audience.
This was my second ITG conference; I also went last year when it was held in Amherst, Massachusetts. Personally, I found it helpful to attend two years in a row, as I had the opportunity to reconnect with some people I had met last year, and I gained a much more thorough understanding of the trumpet world and people who comprise it.
The conference itself was exceptional; I had the opportunity to attend a number of great performances by well-respected artists whom I had not previously heard live. For anyone unfamiliar with Sergei Nakariakov, I highly recommend becoming acquainted with his career. His performance of the Haydn cello concerto was so flawless that it could easily have been recorded; I have yet to find anyone who did not consider his playing the highlight of the week.
Look around the site and please enjoy; feel free to send suggestions and comments my way.
All the best,
-Brittany
