Biography
Known among her colleagues for ambitious solo recitals, Brittany Hendricks is actively pursuing a career as a solo artist. Her 2009-2010 season included guest appearances in Phoenix, Tucson, Dallas, and Chattanooga. She is also a regular performer in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where she is a doctoral student and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Alabama, studying under Dr. Eric Yates. As part of her assistantship, she holds the position of second trumpet with the Alabama Brass Quintet.
Brittany holds Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in performance from Arizona State University (2009) and Chicago’s Northwestern University (2007). She has studied with such notable teachers as David Hickman, Barbara Butler, Charles Geyer, Richard Giangiulio, and Christopher Martin.
In 2007, Brittany took second prize in the International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition and was named one of five winners in the North Shore Musicians Club Scholarship Competition. She also performed as a semifinalist in the 2009 William C. Byrd Young Artist Competition. In addition to her activities as a soloist, Brittany is a devoted private instructor and aspires to teach university-level trumpet upon completion of her doctoral program.
